Troy was a nice movie to watch, but...

 1. Achilles was not a simple soldier following Agamemnon's army.
He was a King himself, leading the mighty Myrmidons. Thus he wasn't
by any means a "minion" or "subject" or "bully" of Agamemnon.
 2. Hector never went to Sparta, Paris just did. It is not likely possible
for Helen being boarded on the Trojan ship without someone, as intelligent
    as Hector, not noticing it.
 3. Sparta has no port, as it is located at Peloponesus mainland.
 4. One of the most thrilling facts in the story of the Trojan war, was never
mentioned in the movie. Agamemnon had to sacrify his daughter, Iphigenia,
in order to please the gods and have the winds to his favor for the journey.
Till that point, no winds were blowing and the trip was not possible. A story
that made one of the greatest tragedies in ancient Greek theatre, was
totally ignored by the movie director (apparently as insignificant).
 5. It was prophesied that the first person of the Greek fleet who would step
on the Trojan land, was the one who would die first in battle. Although
Protesilaus was the one who fulfilled that prophecy, in the movie it's Achilles
that steps out first, before everyone one else does. Ofcourse he doesn't die
first, that would leave the movie without one of it's main attractions.
 6. Achilles did not go to Troy leading a ship of 50 men, he was the leader of
50 Myrmidon ships, thus an army of total 2500 strong.
 7. Achilles never desacrated any Apollo temple during the Trojan war. He had,
just as all Hellenes, deep respect for their gods.
 8. Patroclus was not Achilles cousin, he was simply his best friend.
 9. Achilles actually let Patroclus lead the Myrmidons in battle. He gave him
his armour to wear for that reason. After Patroclus was killed, Hephestus,
god of fire, made a "heavenly" new armour for Achilles, after consulting
    with Athena, goddess of wisdom.
10. Achilles was not visited in Phthia by Odysseus, in order to be summoned
for the war. He was sent by his mother, nereid Thetis, who had forseen her son's
death in Troy, to Lycomedes in Skyros. There, he disguised as a young girl, but
Odysseus uncovered him using his legendary talent of cunning. Achilles then
    followed him willingly.
11. Ajax the Telamonian, King of Salamina, was definitely not killed in a fight against
Hector. He did fight Hector though and after a battle that lasted from morning till
nightfall and ended in draw, the two opponents finally honoured each other's bravery
and exchanged gifts before returning to their camps. While Hector was wounded
lightly in that combat, Ajax, being the second greatest warrior after Achilles,
sustained no injuries at all. After Achilles was killed, Odysseus and Ajax
competed for his armour. Odysseus outwitted Ajax in his speech and won
the armour, while Ajax, driven mad by Athena, fell on his sword commiting suicide.
12. Menelaos was not killed by Hector in the first day of the Trojan war.
He retuned back to Sparta with Helen. Homer never mentioned that Helen finally
got away with Paris. Later on, Menelaos was the one who gathered Patroclus's
dead body from the field. He also was the one who gave hints to Telemachus,
son of Odysseus, regarding his father's fate. Good thing Odysseus did not die too,
as there wouldn't be any "Odyssey", following Troy's scenario.
13. Achilles did not capture Breseis at an Apollo temple located on the shores of
Troy. He conquered 23 towns in the Trojan territory and Breseis was his war-prize
when he seized Lyrnessos. Later on, Agamemnon, being forced to give his own
war-prize Cryseis back, has taken Breseis from Achilles, causing the hero's rage
and refusal to continue the war.
14. Agamemnon was not killed by Breseis and surely not in Troy. He was murdered
by his wife, Queen Clytemnestra and Aegisthus, by the time he retuned back to
    Mycenae.
15. Paris and Andromache did not manage to escape Troy. Paris was killed the day
Troy fell. Andromache was captured by Neoptolemus (also known as Pyrrhus),
son of Achilles and Deidamea and became his slave and concubine. Hector's son,
Astyanax, was thown over the city walls of Troy by Neoptolemus himself.
16. Aeneas was not some young kid fleeing Troy as shown in the movie. He was Priam's
cousin and the second best Trojan warrior after Hector.
17. There are a LOT of heroes missing in this movie. Diomedes was one of the greatest
ones, he faced Hector in battle and as soon as he realized that his opponent had Ares,
god of war, by his side fighting for him, he turned to Hera to seek aid. Hera, having Zeus
permission for this, helped him face Ares in combat and this way Diomedes managed
to spear the war-god's body causing him to bellow as loud as 10000 men, spreading
terror among the two fighting sides and forcing him to withdraw.
17. The Trojan war lasted about a decade and not 18 days according to Troy's scenario.

Many more inaccuracies are spread throughout this movie, lots of pages could be filled
with them. Hollywood wrote history again (litterally), it's own version as usual. I wonder
what Mr. Petersen has to say to Homer, who's waiting for him in the far banks of river Styx...
